"I attended your animal tracking class and fire-starting class in Dec.1998 and Jan 1999..... I just wanted to thank you for the teaching in tracking and also for lighting a fire in me to track daily. This past fall I was able to help recover two wounded deer that the hunters had given up on before contacting me. In one case, I was deep in the woods and found a lost hunter. He had shot a deer, tried to track it, got lost himself and then came upon me. We had to backtrack his trail to where he had shot from and then find the deer's trail. The deer had only gone several hundred yards and the trail was easy to follow. The hunter was ecstatic as he believed that he and the deer were lost. I helped him gut the deer and showed him to the main trail out. I am enjoying being out here in Oregon, there are elk and mountain lion tracks which are very new and exciting to me. I intend to return home to Maine in a few years and hopefully attend some more Wilderness School or Beartraks courses. Again, thanks, and best of luck to you."
Troy Wagstaff, Animal Tracking (1998) and Fire-starting (1999)

"[It] was amazing--realizing how we are surrounded by natural foods but dont take advantage of them, how we have lost touch with the natural world as a society. Intuition about outdoors was enhanced and strengthened--so I generally feel more at home outdoors, especially at night, than I did previously.
Creating fire! It was one of those unforgettable life moments."
Elizabeth Patten, Basic Survival Skills, (May 1998)

"
The things that I was shown and the modeled approach to tracking has helped me to see things that I had previously overlooked. I have a deep love for our natural world and am overjoyed to have learned to see more clearly. Thank you, Dan and Nancy, for this program, it has been the most fun learning experience that I have had in quite some time."
Mary Johnson, Animal Tracking Class, (January 1999)

"[I liked] learning that all marks are tracks and not to prejudge or label tracks before looking deeply. I enjoyed and found it incredibly beneficial to my learning style to walk around and discover what is going onI think this class was a good step in expanding my awareness of my surroundings and the workings of the world."
Student, Animal Tracking, (December 1998)

"The class was excellent! I enjoyed everything that was discussed/done. Thank you.. This class really complimented what I have learned in Tai Chi a chance to actually use my skills in a practical/spiritual manner. [The only change I would like to see is] to make the class even longer!"
Student (1999)

I left this class with the feeling that I had experienced something magical. I had a feeling of peace and well being that I havent felt in years. I hope to draw on this feeling to help me further explore and learn outdoor skills.."

Student (1999)

"I will forever think about the way I walk! Great "hands on" exercises.. This was exactly the experience I needed to further my path on living more aware. Its funny the events that lead you to something new This was just what I needed! Thanks."
Student, (April 1999)

"[The Class] was a wonderful experience! I tell everyone about it!!"
Karen Silverstein, (October 1998)

"[In the blindfolded drum stalk] the first five minutes were hard. After I centered and trusted my intuition---I was just fine. I had the best experience of my life."
Ginny DeYoung, (October 1998)
